Questions
The short version: real Dorset stone, your image printed into it for life, delivered tracked and insured. The longer version is below — and if your question isn’t here, email [email protected] and a human will answer.
Yes — every slice is quarried or responsibly collected Jurassic Coast stone from Dorset, England, and each one is traceable to its bed (Kimmeridge, Charmouth, Portland, Purbeck and others). Every slice ships with a numbered provenance card naming its origin and cut year. We never use cast, composite, or reconstituted stone.
We UV-print your image directly onto the prepared stone face. The ink is cured into the surface under ultraviolet light, so it becomes part of the stone rather than a layer on top of it. It won’t peel, and it’s covered by our lifetime warranty against fading, chipping, and delamination.
Absolutely — that’s the point. Pick a slice from the catalogue, upload your image, and we’ll print it onto that exact stone. For best results supply the largest image file you have; we check every file before printing and will contact you if the resolution won’t do your photo justice.
Because no two are alike. Each slice has its own dimensions, weight, grain, and often its own fossil traces — so we photograph and list every one separately. The stone you see in the listing is the stone you receive.
Some do, some don’t. Where a slice carries visible fossil material — an ammonite impression, shell bed, or ripple marks — the listing says so in the fossil notes. We describe what’s there honestly and never enhance or fake it.
Slices typically weigh 2–4 kg — each listing states the exact weight. Every slice ships with a fitted hanging system rated well beyond its weight, plus fixings and a plain-English hanging guide. Into a solid wall it’s a ten-minute job; for plasterboard we include suitable heavy-duty fixings and guidance. Smaller slices also stand happily on a shelf or mantel.
Barely at all. Dust it occasionally with a dry or slightly damp cloth. No polish, no sealants, no cleaning products — the stone and the cured print need nothing else. Keep it indoors; it’s art, not paving.
Printing and finishing take 5–7 working days from order, then delivery is 1–2 working days with Parcelforce or DPD, fully tracked and insured. Full details on the Delivery & Warranty page.
Slices printed with your own image are made to your specification, so the standard 14-day change-of-mind return doesn’t apply once printing has started — but you can cancel free of charge any time before then, and anything that arrives damaged or faulty is replaced or refunded in full. See Delivery & Warranty and our Terms for the details.
The print, for the life of the stone: fading, chipping, and delamination. If the printed image degrades under normal indoor conditions, we re-print or replace it free. Stone is 150 million years old — it can handle your living room.
Our stone comes from licensed quarries and permitted sources — never from protected cliff faces or restricted sites. Responsible sourcing is the foundation of the provenance we print on every card; see the provenance page for more.
